Thank you for getting in touch with Honey Heart Photography and Congratulations on expecting your baby!
As a storyteller, I capture moments and memories and turn them into portrait art. Through photographs, I tell the story of excited parents waiting for the birth of their baby, of an expectant mother’s love for the baby that she carries under her heart and will nurture for the rest of her life, and the growth of a family as new babies are welcomed. I capture the tiny details and newness of a newborn, so those little newborn moments are never forgotten. I would be truly honoured to be your photographer and capture those incredible moments of your pregnancy and of your precious newborn baby.
Below you will find important information about the process, booking your session, scheduling your session after baby is born, along with other helpful information, including session details and pricing:
RESERVING YOUR SESSION:
Ensuring the highest of quality, care and attention to detail for my clients and their memories, is so important to me. For that reason, I only accept a limited number of newborn sessions per month. Since I tend to book up several months in advance, I recommend booking while you are in your second trimester. If you are further along in your third trimester or if baby is already here, I recommend booking sooner rather than later to ensure your session is secured on my calendar. Last minute bookings for a newborn session are never a guarantee, and usually only occur if a scheduled mom is past her due date. It really is never too early to reserve your newborn session.
To reserve your newborn session, a $150 non-refundable retainer along with a signed portrait agreement is required in order to book your session in and reserve your due date on my calendar. Your session retainer is then deducted from your session total. The remaining balance is due at your newborn session.
THE PROCESS & OTHER INFORMATION:
After you have booked we can start planning some of the details of your newborn session. To start the process off, I will send you over a pre-session planning questionnaire which helps me learn more about your style preferences and vision for your photos. Then, I will begin collecting props and designing set-ups based off your session preferences to bring your vision to life.
Newborn sessions are best completed within the first couple of weeks after birth, when baby is between 5-14 days old. At that age they are still sleepy and we can get those beautiful cuddled up newborn poses. The home studio is located in Southwest Calgary and is equipped with all the props and backdrops that we would need to do your newborn session and capture beautiful photos of your new little love, so you wouldn’t need to worry about bringing any props for your session.
Prior to your scheduled session, I will email you over a Newborn Session Preparation Guide which will help prepare you for our session together as well as answer any questions that you might have. There is lots of helpful tips and information that will help to make for a sleepy and successful newborn session.
SCHEDULING YOUR SESSION:
Your session is reserved on my calendar by your baby's due date. Since babies arrive on their own timing (early, late or right on time), baby's due date holds an opening for your session on my calendar with an approximate date for your newborn session.
As soon as baby is born, within the first 1-2 days after baby's birth, you contact me to let me know your little baby bundle is here. At that time, we will schedule an exact date and time for your newborn session to take place. Newborn sessions are preferably completed before baby is 14 days old. If baby is already here and past the preferred age no worries, we will schedule your session at my first available opening to get baby into the studio for their session and capture beautiful images of them as a newborn before this fleeting stage is over.
DURING YOUR NEWBORN SESSION:
You and baby will be welcomed into the studio where everything will be prepared ahead of time so that we may begin and make the most out of our session time. During your session you are welcome to wait in the cozy parent seating area. This is your time to sit back and relax, catch up on some reading or rest your eyes if you need to. Depending on your session booked, sessions can last anywhere from up to 1-3 hours leaving plenty of time for photographing, feeding, and soothing time for baby as needed.
Newborn photography is what I specialize in. I have been professionally trained in the art of newborn photography and newborn posing, which includes newborn safety and soothing techniques. Your baby's safety is always my top priority during your session. Newborn sessions are always baby led, meaning that I follow baby's cues. Your baby will always be safe and comfortable throughout the session. As every baby, and every session that I photograph, is different from the next, specific newborn poses are never a guarantee.
AFTER YOUR SESSION:
Within 15-19 business days following your session your gallery will be ready for you. I will email you a link to your private online proofing gallery for you to view and select all your favourite images from your session. Your gallery will be available for viewing and finalizing your selections from for one week (7 days) from the date of delivery. When your final selections have been made, I will begin preparing your chosen images as high resolution digital files for you to download. You will be provided instructions on how to download your images right from your gallery. A personal print release will accompany your downloaded files. You will be able to print your photos as much you’d like and give gift prints to family and friends.
NEWBORN SESSIONS & PACKAGES
Each newborn collection is thoughtfully created to help you get the most out of your session. I keep it simple with digital collections designed around quality and timeless images. When it comes to preserving your most treasured moments and memories, there has always been an appreciation in keeping with quality over quantity. Each image is selected and professionally edited with maximum artistry. Images from the session are presented in a private online Gallery Reveal with all your favourite images available as a digital download. Each collection comes with a Personal Print Release so that you may reprint to your heart’s desire.
Your newborn session includes the photographers time and talent, pre-session planning, custom styled session in studio, Newborn Session Preparation Guide, use of studio newborn props, a private online Gallery Reveal and all your favourite selected images delivered as a download.

Petite Sessions are custom styled sessions lasting up to one hour in studio. The Petite Session option is perfect for parents wishing to capture a smaller collection of photos of their precious new baby – so you won’t miss capturing the newborn stage. Baby will be wrapped for the duration of the session.
Deluxe Sessions are custom styled sessions lasting up to three hours in studio and include multiple beautifully designed and styled setups. The Deluxe Session option showcases a beautiful gallery of baby artistically posed in adorable cuddled up newborn poses on blankets, as well as baby wrapped and posed in props.
CHERISHED NEWBORN - $850
{ $150 retainer at booking + $700 due at session }
Deluxe Session Includes:
- 25 High Resolution Digital Images with Print Release
- Up to 3 Hour Studio Session, all props included
- Pose with parents and siblings is included, if desired
- Gift credit of $50 towards Baby Milestone Session when baby is 6-9 months old and sitting up unassisted
PURE NEWBORN - $675
{ $150 retainer at booking + $525 due at session }
Deluxe Session Includes:
- 20 High Resolution Digital Images with Print Release
- Up to 2 Hour Studio Session, all props included
- Pose with parents and siblings is included, if desired
SWEET & SIMPLE NEWBORN - $550
{ $150 retainer at booking + $400 due at session }
Deluxe Session Includes:
- 12 High Resolution Digital Images with Print Release
- Up to 2 Hour Studio Session, all props included
- Pose with parents and siblings is included, if desired
WRAPPED IN LOVE NEWBORN - $425
{ $150 retainer at booking + $275 due at session }
Petite Session Includes:
- 6 High Resolution Digital Images with Print Release
- Up to 1 Hour Studio Session with Baby Wrapped
- 2-3 Prop Setups, depending on baby
- Pose with baby and parents only is included, if desired
Switch Out Option: Choose to do a baby and sibling pose instead of baby and parents and we will switch out one setup.
The Wrapped in Love Session is not available for multiples.
SWEETLY WRAPPED NEWBORN - $350
{ $150 retainer at booking + $200 due at session }
Petite Session Includes:
- 5 High Resolution Digital Images with Print Release
- Up to 45 Minute Studio Session with Baby Wrapped
- 1-2 Prop Setups, depending on baby
- Baby Only Poses
The Sweetly Wrapped Session is not available for multiples.
